- Care of textiles was expanded with the addition of home solvent cleaning, horizontal and vertical axis washing machines, ventless drying, alternates to dry cleaning, and new ingredients in detergents or compounds available for home use.

- New finishes were added: bioscouring, ultraviolet absorbent, porosity control., vapor phase durable press finishes, and pilling resistant finishes.

- use textile terminology correctly.
- know laws and labeling requirements regulating textile distribution.
- understand the impact of production processes and selection of components on product performance, cost, and consumer satisfaction.

- recognize the forces that drive industry developments.
- identify fiber type, yarn type, and fabrication method.
- predict fabric or product performance based on a knowledge of fibers, yarns, fabrication methods, and finishes in conjunction with informative labeling.

- select textile components or products based on specified end uses and target market expectations for performance and serviceability.
- select appropriate care for textile products.
- develop an interest in and appreciation of textiles.

Each section of the book focuses on a basic component or aspect of fabrics and textile products or on general issues important to the use of, production of, or satisfaction with textile products

The four main sections follow the normal sequence used in the production of textiles: fiber, yarn, fabrication, and finishing.

Section 1. The study of textiles and approaches product development from a textile perspective

Section 2. Focuses on fibers, their production, serviceability, effect on product performance, and use. Several new fibers or new generic classifications have been added to this section

Section 3. Focuses on yarn production, yarn types, the relationship of yarn type to product performance and serviceability, and sewing thread.

Section 4. Examines fabrication methods.

Understanding textiles cannot be achieved only by studying this book; it also requires working with fabrics. Kits are available from several sources.
In addition, many workbooks for lab use and self-study have been designed to help students learn this information.

No tips better than being comfortable of what you wear and you will naturally gain confidence with your appearance.

You might have heard the suggestion of wearing something black. Nobody would deny that black can give slimmer appearance. But be careful with the fabric.
Thick fabric sometime shows the contrary. And ‘too tight’ may expose all areas which are supposed to be hidden.

The fact is a lot of people feel sexy when they are wearing black. Nevertheless, some people also think that black is so boring and gloomy. Thus, my suggestion is not to wear black everyday as if you are a desperate person who is just having a funeral.

What most people not aware of is plus size can also look chic and stylish in color.
Choose flattering color for your skin. Large bold print or bold patterns are great, so as vertical lines. If you are not confidence enough with colors, combine them with black.

Usually simple design is good to avoid bulky and frumpy look. If you like details though, do not choose ruffles, frills, thick pockets or whatever accessories that can make you look bigger.

Description

This text combines step-by-step instructions illustrated to present the principles and methods of draping. Author Helen Joseph-Armstrong incorporates three draping techniques manipulating dart excess, adding fullness, and contour draping in design
projects featured throughout the text.

Projects begin with a draping plan and fashion
drawing to identify its creative elements, and determine the draping technique required. The author describes the drape of the basic dress and its relationship to every garment in a clothing collection, emphasizing the drape of foundation garments as a base to building more complex design.

About the Author

Helen Joseph Armstrong is Professor of fashion design at the Fashion Center of the Los Angeles Trade-Technical College. A teacher, designer, consultant, and author, Armstrong was a recipient of the Nisod Excellence Award from the University of Texas at Austin.

The world of fashion is one of beautiful images and also those that surprise and assault our conventions. The runways have been invaded by youth and the street, radical subcultures, and Big Top aesthetics. The ability to capture the various moods and mixes of global influences visually is no small task.

Innovation is no longer confined to just women's fashion, and the runways and fashion magazines are a mixed bag in terms of gender and age. Fashion Illustration for Designers is a textbook created not only to teach designers how to draw all the various fashion figures, step-by-step, but also to aid in understanding the subtleties of past, present, and future layered together and presented as style.
